What would happen then, if you took the following ten seconds? What if, for ten seconds you made a truce with yourself and simply stopped thinking about anything negative?
Happiness, I believe, is as simple as not having any fears because it allows you to observe the world around you. Which, with some practice, will give you the playful mentality that means being able to be amazed.
If you take the following ten seconds your future will not be dramatically altered. That thing that you might do right or wrong is still going to be right... or wrong. So there are two choices you can take after reading this paragraph: Close it and continue trying to find a solution to the problem(s) of life or follow me through a ten second meditation that might not change your future, but will most definitely alter your present.
Close your eyes, count to ten and try not to think on anything that makes you feel bad. If any positive thoughts come to you, let them in. If you are in a position to observe something or someone interesting, do so.
Try it now and scroll down when you are done.
It's not that easy, right? If you didn't manage to stop thinking then try it again, until you can.
When you are able to develop the ability to take those ten seconds for yourself you can try it somewhere else. You will appreciate it when you get to a situation in which the future or the past should not be allowed. For me, for example, that sacred present is the time I spend with my wife and my baby. He will never again be in the stage he is right now and I consider every single second of his living a miracle.
Nothing should be more important than your happiness. You have the power of not allowing fear in your heart. You don't need it to solve your problem anyway.
